The Ford Transit was launched for sales in the United States in the summer of 2009. This vehicle has been used in Europe for over 25 years which is where we became familiar with its capabilities. It was named Truck of the Year for 2009 in the US. We were so excited about its availability that we purchased the 2nd Transit available in Indiana (just missing out on the first Transit by 10 minutes).
From our viewpoint as a beer and wine distributor, it’s become a versatile and environmentally positive asset for our business because it can hold ¾ ton (over 40 cases) and still gets 23 MPG.. We make daily deliveries in urban areas and its tight turning radius allows us to maneuver easily servicing our customers. As a bonus, we “wrap” the vehicle with some eye catching graphics, our company logo, our website name, and even promote select brands that we sell in the state.
The van(s) currently sport the Santa Julia logo. Santa Julia is produced by Familia Zuccardi which is Argentina’s largest family owned winery. They are the 6th largest exporter of Argentina wines to the United States and are currently distributed in all 50 states and in all major Indiana cities. We appreciate their social commitments (they provide subsidized housing, schooling, and a library), environmental sensitivity (50% of their vineyards are organically certified), and sustainability (recycle of vineyards materials, solar power, etc). Most importantly, they consistently produce solid quality wines at very reasonable price points and are recognized by many of the wine magazines as a top tier Argentina winery (2008 value brand of the year by Wine and Spirits).
